-Intractable pain, which is pain that has not responded to ordinary medications, treatment or surgical measures for

more than six (6) months

-Severe nausea

-Seizures, including without limitation those characteristic of epilepsy

-Severe and persistent muscle spasms, including without limitation those characteristic of multiple sclerosis

**Other conditions may be added by the Arkansas Department of Health as qualifying for Medical Cannabis in the future.

**Some conditions may require documentation from your treating physician.

                Description of Qualifying Conditions

Cancer- Patients with cancer may benefit from the use of medical cannabis in the management of some of the symptoms and treatment side effects of the disease. Although there are encouraging anecdotal reports of cannabis treating cancer as a disease there is also much misinformation. Medical cannabis is NOT a substitute for the studied and tested treatments recommended by oncologists.

Glaucoma-Medical cannabis has been shown to decrease the high pressures within the eye of glaucoma. Whilst helping with pressure reduction, it is NOT a suitable replacement for the medications prescribed by your ophthalmologist but can be used in addition to them. A consultation with us or your physician in the proper way to use cannabis is recommended.

HIV/AIDS- Much medical progress has been made since HIV/AIDS was first identified. The life saving treatment often carries some severe side effects as does the disease itself which can be treated with medical cannabis. It is used in addition to prescribed medications and is NOT a replacement.

Hepatitis C- Medical c​annabis does not treat hepatitis C directly but may decrease inflammation and is used to assist in the management of the symptoms and pain associated with the disease.

Amyotrophic Lateral sclerosis- The severe symptoms of ALS can respond to treatment with medical cannabis and the antioxidant properties of the medication may be of benefit.

Tourette's Syndrome- Medical cannabis can be useful in the management of the symptoms of Tourette's syndrome. Consultation with your physician or us for the proper use of cannabis in addition to your medications is recommended.

Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis- Some of the symptoms of these diseases can be improved with medical cannabis and the anti-inflammatory effects of the drug, in combination with those prescribed by your gastroenterologist, may slow the disease.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder- Medical cannabis has been approved to treat PTSD. It may be of some benefit in certain patients and may aggravate symptoms in others. Consultation with your physician or us is recommended.

Severe Arthritis- The addition of medical cannabis to prescribed drugs can improve the pain associated with severe arthritis and may decrease inflammation.

Fibromyalgia- Patients suffering from fibromyalgia often benefit by the addition of medical cannabis to their treatment. It should be used in combination with current therapy although many patients are able to taper some of the other medications completely after the addition of cannabis.

Fibromyalgia is a clinical diagnoses. There are no laboratory or imaging studies that diagnose fibromyalgia and you may be diagnosed at your consultation.

Alzheimer's Disease- The properties of cannabis in decreasing inflammation in the brain may benefit patients with Alzheimer's disease. Consultation with your physician or us is recommended.

Cachexia/Wasting Syndrome- Medical cannabis can be effective in stimulating the appetite for patients with these conditions, usually secondary to another disease. Cannabis is not effective for eating disorders such as anorexia.

Peripheral Neuropathy- The painful symptoms of peripheral neuropathy often respond well to treatment with medical cannabis. It should be used in combination with medications currently prescribed.

Intractable Pain- Chronic pain is a approved condition in the state for medical cannabis. There are a wide variety of conditions which can result in the development of chronic pain and treatment depends on the cause. Medical cannabis should be used in addition to other medications in the treatment of chronic pain. As conditions, medications and other treatments are specific to the cause of pain, consultation with your physician or us is recommended to achieve optimal results.

Severe Nausea- The anti-nausea properties of medical cannabis are well known and can assist in the management of this problem. It is usually used in conjunction with other medications and can be used in addition to and for some people as a replacement for those with poor responses or side effects to the regularly used medications.

Seizures/Epilepsy- Medical cannabis can be of benefit in the management of seizures. It should always be used with prescribed medications to control seizures and is not a replacement for prescribed medications. Severe Muscle Spasms- Persistent and severe muscle spasms often respond to treatment with medical cannabis. It initially used with routinely prescribed medications but can replace some that have intolerable side effects. Patients with multiple sclerosis and spasms are encouraged to consult with their physician or us is recommended.
